Southeast US Day #11: Charlotte, North Carolina to Columbia, South Carolina- July 31, 2019

My husband K and I were up by 8. We joined our hosts M and G and their daughter K for a breakfast of bagels on their screened porch. We had another lovely, long chat.
We had a lunch appointment in South Carolina, so we were on the road by 11:32, with the odometer starting at 58,251. I let K drive again so that I could get some needlework done.
At 12:11 (58,274), we pulled into the parking lot of Copper Premium Pub in Clover, South Carolina. We were here to meet one of our groomsmen S. His wife M was out of the country on a medical mission. So, K and S did most of the talking. We ordered the Classic Pizza for $10.95 and the Cobb Salad for $11. K got a beer, but I had a Diet Coke. S kindly paid.
We left at 1:25 to follow him to see his new residence, which was just 4 miles away in a golf course community. It is a nice  place that they plan to make more changes to than they have already accomplished. They have a saltwater fish tank and we were there while the woman came to do its cleaning.
We were on the road at 3:09. We had some raindrops, but it didn't last. At the request of our younger daughter, we were next going to the only Trader Joe's in South Carolina, which is in Columbia. She wanted the shopping bag. So, I did a search and programmed our GPS, "Sarah".
We arrived at 4:46 (58,306). Since it was so near dinner time and we didn't want to go out for dinner, we picked up sandwiches to take to the hotel. We were back on the road at 5:06, but K kindly stopped five minutes later just a mile up the road at a Tuesday Morning. I always seem to find something there. This time it was a Gaelic Barbie, a good reminder of our Scotland trip. We were off again at 5:38.
The Hampton Inn, where we had a reservation was just a 14 minute drive (58, 372). We unloaded some of our stuff, but especially the Biltmore wine. We were assigned room 215, which was clean and comfortable.
K got a $2 Coke Zero from the vending machine to go with our sandwiches. He liked his, but, trying to be good, I'd gotten a vegetarian sandwich that was dry and just awful. Lesson learned.
We'd had a rather short travel day, which was nice. We could spend a relaxing evening in the room.
